Splash Review
Since a young age, Molly has lived with her Nan and Grandad as her Mum disappeared unexpectedly long ago.
All her life Molly has dreamed of becoming a champion swimmer.
Although her best friend Chloe is not at all supportive and is not in the slightest complimentary about Molly’s build (whilst she herself is really slim) Molly finds that she has a tough decision about fitting in and giving up her favourite sport, or losing her friend.
Molly has always stood out from the popular crowd which Chloe is so boastful about, because all the girls in her class always have the latest fashion and technology. Molly’s Nan is not the most stylish of people and believes in a practical approach, so whilst Molly’s friends are shopping with their mums, Molly spends most of the time at swimming practice with the strong boys.
Molly soon realises that Chloe has not been at all nice to her and has been whispering rude remarks behind her back, though Molly cannot let this stop her achieving her biggest dream, so she must begin to swim in secret.
One night the doorbell rings to reveal Molly’s long lost mother, Angela. Molly’s Mum turns out to be very supportive and gives her the latest smart ‘phone and all of the coolest clothes, which Chloe envies.
Will her Mum be as nice as she seems at first for ever? Can Molly achieve her aim? And can Chloe finally realise what a bad friend she has been…
My Thoughts
This book teaches you to not judge people by the outside, but rather the inside.
It made me think how lucky I am to have nice friends and be supported, but also that swimming is a great sport. This book was a real page turner and has taught me some very important lessons, there were also some very funny moments which made it a great read.
