The Name of this Book is Secret

by Pseudonymous Bosch

The Story

The code names of the characters in this book are Cass and Max-Ernest.

You may be wondering why Max Ernest has two names. This is because his parents could not decide on a name for him. His mother wanted her son to be called after her father, Max. His father wanted his son to be called after his father, Ernest. The disagreement was so strong that his parents got divorced as soon as they stepped out of the hospital after Max-Ernest’s birth.

Cass is very good at predicting things, even if they are not about to happen. Her two grandfathers own an antique shop, but they love their stock so much that they never sell it. In fact they are not really her grandfathers at all. One day the estate agent Gloria arrives with a box of mysterious objects from a deceased magician’s house. When Cass and her grandfathers investigate its contents they find that it contains the symphony of smells. Cass is intrigued about the magician and so she and her friend Max-Ernest go in search of the magician’s former home.

Finding the house and searching for more of the magician’s treasures, Max-Ernest goes to the loo. When he flushes the loo, a concealed room is revealed, containing a secret notebook. Suddenly Gloria arrives, with a lady dressed in gold from head to toe and the tallest man in the world. They are hunting for the notebook too and will do anything within their power to snatch it. Cass and Max-Ernest are in danger.

My Thoughts

This book may seem crazy but it is actually amazing. I enjoyed all of the sudden twists in the plot. I felt like I was right there alongside Cass and Max Ernest as the story unfolded. The secretive parts in the story and the chance to solve the case won me over.
