The Secret of the Night Train

by Sylvia Bishop

The Story

When the Morel family received a phone call from Great Aunt Elodie, asking if one of the Morel’s could come by train to Istanbul to visit, to assist her with daily life as she is so very old and ill, Max seems the only candidate to go and visit. Max’s mother is busy at work and Max’s father has a very important meeting coming up. Max’s older brother Pierre has a National chess tournament and Max’s older sister Claudette has an International show jumping championship.
Max must travel by train, only train at Great Aunt Elodie’s request, with a kindhearted nun, Sister Marguerite. But not everything on the train is as it seems. The peculiar lady with the dragon eyes, the no-nonsense petit old lady and a dashing young man all seem to have something to hide. A jewel thief in on the loose…

My Thoughts

This book was exhilarating and surprise awaited in most pages. My favourite character was Max for her intrepid courage and perseverance throughout this book. I would recommend this book to ages eight and up, it might seem long at first but everybody will enjoy the story!
